Two killed in Karachi garment factory fire

A court has sentenced two people to death for setting fire to a garment factory in Karachi, Pakistan.

Abdul Rehman and Jubayer Charaya were convicted of involvement in a fire at the Ali Enterprise factory in Baldia. They were accused of setting the factory on fire for not paying the dues demanded from the owners. The convicts were also active members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

A factory fire in September 2012 killed 260 people. Hundreds of people were trapped in the factory as there was no emergency exit. At that time, 40 vehicles of the fire service brought the fire under control after trying for about 24 hours.
