
The Prime Minister called upon the people to work for the welfare of the people
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the Deputy Commissioners to give special importance to ensure that the rural population gets all kinds of civic benefits. He said this while attending the inaugural function of the three-day Deputy Commissioners' Conference from Ganobhaban in the morning.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined a video conference from Ganobhaban at the opening ceremony of the conference on Tuesday (January 18) after 10 am.
The Prime Minister told DCs that no one should be harassed when they come for services. We have to be vocal in implementing integrity as well as preventing corruption.
Mentioning that a new variant of Corona is being infected in the country, the Prime Minister urged the DCs to be as vigilant and aware as before.
Noting that the responsibility has increased due to the status of a developing country, the Prime Minister called for maintaining the continuity of development.
Bangabandhu Kanya also instructed to find out that the family of a freedom fighter should not be in misery.

The conference is taking place two years later due to the coronavirus epidemic. This time the DC conference will end on January 20.
Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) want more powers in field administration. Proposals have been made to the Cabinet Division seeking additional powers on a number of issues, including the issuance of firearms licenses and certification of microfinance institutions. The same picture has been observed by observing about three and a quarter hundred proposals sent by DCs of 64 districts. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioners have sent proposals on various issues to the Cabinet Division.
According to the ‘Responsibilities and Functions of the Deputy Commissioner-2011’, 62 specific matters are mentioned to be taken care of. The scope of these responsibilities has increased in the last decade. At the same time, there is an opportunity for DCOs at the district level and UNOs at the Upazila level to carry out their responsibilities in any matter related to the interests of the government other than the written ones. Despite all this, the DCs have also proposed to take up development projects in line with the characteristics of the district concerned. At the same time, they have come up with suggestions to change the necessary laws and policies.
