Prosecutors in a Minneapolis court heard the case on Monday.

George Floyd's family members spoke in court. The court was shown a video of accused former police officer Derek Shavin holding George Floyd to his knees and killing him.

Plaintiff's attorney, Jerry Blackwell, said Derek Shavin held George Floyd by the knees until he breathed his last. He did not listen to George Floyd's repeated requests to leave.

Derek Shavin has put extra force on George Floyd. The entire trial will be broadcast live on television. Derek Shavin will be convicted only if all 14 judges agree. Derek Shavin could face up to 40 years in prison in this case.
