A Chinese journalist has been sentenced to four years in prison for reporting on a coronavirus outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The Bangkok Post reported.
The 37-year-old journalist's name was Zhang Zhan. A Chinese court handed down the verdict on Tuesday. In December last year, coronavirus spread around the world from Wuhan, the capital of China's Hubei province.
Zhang Zhan is a former lawyer. He broadcast live on social media last February about the outbreak of coronavirus in the city of Wuhan. He was arrested last May.
Chinese authorities have accused Zhang of spreading false information using pens, videos and other means. He was also accused of spreading false information about Uhan's virus through interviews with foreign media.
