Turkey will continue to support Libya's national government, despite announcing the resignation of Libyan Prime Minister Fayyad al-Saraj next month.
Ibrahim Kalin, a spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said on Monday.
"Ankara will uphold all bilateral agreements, including the international community's recognition of the Libyan national government and the security agreement signed with Tripoli last year," he said.
Ibrahim Kalin said the political developments in Libya would not affect the agreements because all these decisions were made between the governments of the two countries, not with any individual. A spokesman for the Turkish president said Turkish government officials could visit Tripoli in the coming days to discuss the situation in Libya.
Last Thursday, Fayyaz al-Saraj said he planned to step down by the end of next month. He said the plan was to resolve the country's long-running political crisis.
