Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has sharply criticized US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

"Pompe has been saying the same thing over and over again, despite all the other members of the Security Council declaring that the UN sanctions against Iran have not been lifted," he said. At the same time, he is threatening other countries to match. He made the remarks in a Twitter message.

Addressing Donald Trump, Zarif said, "Take the reins of your (Trump's) foreign minister. Pompeo also claimed on Saturday that UN sanctions against Iran had been reinstated under the so-called snapback clause of the 2015 nuclear deal.

"Trump should change his ways before Mike Pompeo can make America a laughing stock," he said.

All members of the UN Security Council, except for the United States, have said that the United States could not take steps to re-impose sanctions on Iran because of its withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
