Delwar Hossain, 28, a deputy assistant engineer at the Rajshahi Public Works Office, was beaten and injured by a contractor and his associates. Police have arrested the two attackers in the incident.

The attack and vandalism took place at noon on Monday at the office of the executive engineer of the Public Works Department-2. Engineer Delwar Hossain was injured in the attack. He was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College (RAMEC) Hospital. During this time, various furniture including laptops and printers of the engineer's room were vandalized.

The plaintiff in the case, Sub-Divisional Engineer Iftekhar Alam, filed a case against the two attackers. Police have arrested them. They are Shahabul Manzur Liton, 31, a resident of Sadhur Mor area of ​​Rajshahi, the owner of contractor Liton Enterprise, and his manager, Atiqur Rahman, 32, a resident of Chak Kapasia, a suburb of the metropolis.

Delwar Hossain, who works as a deputy assistant engineer, said construction work of a land office is underway in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi at a cost of crores of rupees. On Sunday afternoon he went to inspect the construction work. At that time welding work was going on with low quality bricks. In addition, the work schedule mentions the casting of four inches, but the hutch is given two and a half inches. At that point, he stopped work and ordered the removal of substandard construction materials from the site.

He added that due to the incident, contractor Liton and his manager Atiq came to his office room around 11:30 on Monday. Esau Litton refused to remove substandard construction materials from the scene. At one point, Lytton and his associates attacked him. At that moment, Liton beat him with a wooden chair. As a result, the upper part of his right eye was injured and deep wounds were caused. There are also serious injuries to various parts of the body. After the attack, Liton and his accomplice Atiq carried out extensive vandalism.He smashed chairs, tables, laptops and printers in his room.

In this regard, Ferdous Shahnewaz Kanta, executive engineer of Public Works Department-2, said that the contractor Liton and his associate Atiq engineer Delwar were beaten and his room was vandalized. At that time, members of various law enforcement agencies including police and RAB came to the spot and brought the situation under control. We demand exemplary punishment for those involved in this incident.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajpara Police Station Shahadat Hossain Khan said a case has been registered against contractor Liton and his associate Atiq. The detainees have been sent to jail through the court after initial questioning.
