The last time BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia celebrated her birthday was on August 15, 2015 by cutting a cake. After that, the BNP chief did not cut any cake or take part in any event. He has spent the last two birthdays in jail. However, on his 76th birthday, the party chief was at home with a temporary release on a government order, but the leaders and workers did not receive any message of the program.

Bagerhat district BNP vice-president Kazi Khairuzzaman Shipon said, "As far as we know, he will not cut the cake this time. However, he has no decision on whether the cake may be cut somewhere.

Former Barisal district BNP president Mohammad Ahsan Habib Kamal lauded the party chairperson's decision not to cut the cake.
