The new director-general of the health department said action would be taken against unauthorized hospitals and clinics within the next one and a half months.

Unauthorized hospitals and clinics will be dealt with within a month, said the new director-general of the Department of Health. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam. He made the remarks in video conferencing for the first time since taking office on Monday (July 27th) in response to various questions from media personnel. "Coping with the epidemic is a big challenge," he added.

"My first job is to deal with the epidemic," he said. Because I live first, then something else. If we survive, we can work to eradicate corruption.

The newly-appointed director-general of the health department also complained that various business circles in foreign countries are constantly trying to stir up controversy in the country's health sector.

The transfer of 28 officials of the health department within a few days of taking charge is a routine task of the health department, said the director-general. He also said that it has nothing to do with corruption or irregularities.
